There were many noteworthy albums that came out this week. I want to mention two records that didn’t quite make my cut: Dawes, “All Your Favorite Bands” and Florence + The Machine, “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful”—both good albums that are worth a listen.

As for this week’s picks:

Born Cages, “I’m Glad I’m Not Me”

American Indie Alt Rock

I’m Glad I’m Not Me is Born Cages’ first full-length release. I have really enjoyed it; by far my most listened-to album this week.

This album has a lot of sonic similarities to A Silent Film and Death Cab For Cutie, with some glam metal guitar work mixed in.

Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, “Django & Jimmie”

Country

This is Willie and Merle’s sixth album collaboration.

When these two put out a record, we listen. Merle Haggard is one of my favorite country artists, and his contributions to this album are rich. Plenty of honky tonk piano, pedal steel guitar, and walking bass lines make this a country classic.
